The Rules & Fine Print

No-Shenanigans Cook-offs/Bake-offs

These friends and family, no shenanigans cook-offs/bake-offs are part of our cooking and charity event series. We love to celebrate food and raise money and awareness for charities we feel strongly about.

These are friendly cook-offs — an excuse to get together and celebrate food, as well as raise money and awareness for our featured charity. If you represent a charity and would like to contact us about featuring your organization, please contact us at contact@looseys.com.

Keep in mind, these are “no shenanigans” cook-offs, which means we’re leaving it up to you to play fair. Cooks should prepare their signature dishes from scratch as much as possible. Votes should be for best dish, and not for popularity of the cook (yeah, no campaigning for your entry, please!).

IMPORTANT NOTES

Sign Up: The sign-up sheet is available at Loosey’s Downtown and also at our Haile location in Market Square. Ask you friendly bartender for the sign-up sheet. Or email contact@looseys.com and we’ll add you to the list.

Deadlines: The sign-up deadline is posted on each event page, but is usually four days before the event, OR when the first 15 people sign up. We’ve got limited space and can only accept entries on first-come basis.

Fees: Cooks/bakers do not pay an entry fee (except in special situations, and that is posted per event). Tasters/judges are asked for a minimum donation towards our featured charity.

Cooks’ notes: We recommend enough of your dish to serve samples for around 40 to 50 tasters/voters. Collect your dishes and other items by 6.

Tasting & Voting: All cooks will cast votes. We recommend complete honesty (if you like someone else’s dish, cast your vote accordingly!). Tasters will also cast one vote each. In case of a tie, our on-site charity representatives will cast the deciding vote.

Day of cook-off: Cooks check in by 3:30 with your dish so we have time to set out individual servings. All tasting and votes in by 5:00. Winners announced at 5:15.

Prizes: First place winners, your name goes on the cook-off plaque on the wall at Loosey’s for eternity! Also prizes and swag-bags are awarded per cook-off.
